Macon, Georgia
Show and Tell Day
Thursday, 15 November 2012

I just happened to be downtown Macon, Georgia about Noon when I noted all of the activity at City Hall.  I had my camera with me so I stopped and proceeded to take pictures.  I asked one of the Firemen on the scene what was going on and I was informed that the Macon Police Department and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department were showing their newest equipment to the Media and the Public.  I captured a series of many shots and the  best are presented here for your viewing.  I am certainly proud to be a resident of this area.  Show and Tell Day, 15 November 2012 was very informative and also displays where some of our Tax Funds used.

Middle Georgia Art Association
November Meeting

A portion of the Vineville Academy Chorus performed four selections for the November Meeting on the 13th.  These young Scholars represented their School and their respective families in an excellent manner.

They performed four selections including:

This Is America
Home for the Holidays, No Matter Where You Are

The last line of this song is:  "No Matter Where You Are, Home Is In Your Heart."

Fall In Middle Georgia
Today I will share several pictures that I have taken which feature the beauty of Middle Georgia in the Fall.   The first two were taken in the Gardens surrounding my home.  The third picture was taken in rural Georgia as I returned to Macon from a Blue Star Memorial By-Marker Dedication in Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Helping The Homeless

Macon, Georgia, U.S.A.

Recently the most recent "Leadership Macon Class" developed a worthwhile scheme which allows all who desire to help the Homeless in Macon, Georgia.  They have erected these meters so that caring citizens may donate funds to help the causes of various charities who give aid and assistance to the Homeless in Macon.

This donation meter is located in the square just North of the Macon City Hall.  The next picture gives you information about what your donation buys.

I would humbly suggest that the appropriate officials paint the stands which support these donation meters.  The pipe appears to be manufactured in Thailand.  If that is the case, I would submit that possibly if more industry remained in the U. S. A., just maybe we would have fewer homeless.

Just my thoughts on the matter!!!!  Other than that, the project appears to be well conceived and well executed and may possibly reduce the number of pan-handlers in Macon, Georgia.  Time will tell.  At least we can inform the Pan-Handlers that we have made a donation to assist them with their situation.

Responsiblities!!!

After the Election Duties

The recent General Elections were conducted on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012.  This picture was taken at the intersection of Walnut Street and Madison in Pleasant Hill on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at about 9:00 A.M.  I would suggest that the supporters of the respective Candidates, no matter the election results remove these signs with the same sense of responsibility that they displayed when they placed the signs in support of their respective candidate.

It will interesting to see how long it takes to have Macon, Georgia litter free after the 2012 Elections.

Appropriate Behavior
or
Ethics As A Member Of The Human Race

Recently there has been a lot of media coverage regarding who is having or had an affair with a member of the opposite sex.

Just my recommendation on this matter, which I learned so many years ago.  It was when I was first transferred to Shore Duty In Washington, DC.  I had reported for this Shore Duty on July 31, 1964.  Several months later the Command I was assigned to received several wonderful looking U. S. Navy Waves.

A few days after their arrival the Master Chief who was our Division Chief took all of us young Sailors to the conference room and gave us a firm talking to.  The message was brief and quite effective.

We were told:  "Do Not Peter The Pay Roll!!"

The Master Chief's comment to us was  effective.  We believed and we all did see the consequences.  Needless to say, someone in an other area of the command did not get this talk and there was serious consequences.  Even more serious than the consequences were are learning about now in the media.  Someone almost lost their life.  Need I say more.

We Remember
A few minutes ago I published a Blog Post here with the images I captured today as I prepared for the dedication of the Monument/Memorial for U. S. Marine SGT Rodney M. Davis.  That post also contained a picture of the U. S. Navy Ship named after Rodney.

This series is presented to show the ceremony surrounding this Dedication.  The first picture was taken at 9:09 A.M.  People were already assembling for the 10:00 A.M. Dedication.  This entire series of pictures tells the story without any comment.

However, I must point out that this U. S. Marine Veteran who wore a USS Rodney M. Davis Ball Cap let me take his picture.  Later during the dedication ceremony as they placed a wreath near the Monument I learned that this Hero is alive today because Rodney threw himself on the gernade that took his live; however it saved the lives of his fellow Marines, including this Gentleman.  He also spoke during the dedication ceremony.

After the ceremony was complete many took the time to speak to members of the Davis Family.  On the far left you see Rodney's older Brother.

We Remember - A day that displayed that many still care about the heroes of our Nation's Past.  A day that the Davis Family will always remember.
