The Tale of A
Fallen Sign
It Happened in the Fall of 2024! Somehow someone knocked down a Street Identification and a Stop Sign at the intersection of Weatherby Drive and Hunters Trace in Weatherby Plantation in Macon-Bibb. This Sub-Division is off of Tucker Road.
A New Pole was ordered from the Firm known as Brandon Industries in Texas. The order was specific and the size of the pole was ascertained from the Firm's Web Site. The new pole was purchased and shipped to the Weatherby Plantation Public Works Department and on arrival it was determined that the pole shipped was narrower.
The Firm did not want to take the responsibility of funding the return which would have been over $300.00. It was determined that the New Narrow Pole could be used and the original pole could be slid over the incorrect pole.
This was accomplished and on Wednesday, 26 February 2025 the Public Works Department of Weatherby Plantation Installed the New Pole. First the pole in the ground had to be secured in a proper upright position which was accomplished with the placement of several bags of quick dry "Quikrete!"
Then the real work commenced. As You can see from the following pictures:
During the time from the Damage to the Pole and the arrival of the New Pole and the Time Schedule of the Public Works Department of Weatherby Plantation the Macon-Bibb Sign Department installed a Temporary Street Sign/Stop Sign which is visible on several of the pictures above.
The removal of the Temporary Sign by the Macon-Bibb Sign Department has been requested!!!
This incident is documented with this Blog Post so that all who live in Weatherby Plantation will know of the work accomplished by the Public Works Department. This Department is staffed by Two Great Volunteers so the next time you see them, please give Your Thanks to Them!!!
