Bibb County Georgia Tornado Pictures
Mother's Day - May 11, 2008
The scene on Westbury Drive just South of Eisenhower Parkway in Macon, Georgia. What a mess. Power poles snapped off and lines everywhere.
If the trees were not twisted off they were uprooted. Just one of many hundred trees that were on top of homes.

The above two images do not even show the devistation that happened in Bibb County on Sunday, May 11, 2008 in the early morning hours between 5:30 A.M. and about 6:30 A.M. The weather radio woke us up and the sirens were blaring. The Flower Child and his Bride took to the downstairs powder room and turned on the Television to watch the reports of an impending Tornado. The Television went off the air at about 6:36 A.M.
The above images were taken as we visited the area to ascertain if one of our fellow church members was O.K. Of course the phones were out of order and we had to travel through many tree laden streets to get to his home. We walked about one block to his house to find him at a neighbors home.
The power company has restored power to all the homes, except about 600 which are not ready for electric service at this time. At one time early in this week, 32,000 homes were without electric power.
Information available today, May 16, 2008 indicates that the damage to homes will most likely exceed $125,000,000.00.

I read with interest your last three columns. The tornado, thank goodness no one that we know was hurt or killed. Property can be replaced but lives can't be.
