Training Our Heroes
Anyone who volunteers to serve our Country in the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army or Coast Guard receives intensive training in the basic skills to allow them to perform in an acceptable manner.
I have fond memories of my "Boot Camp" training in 1961 at the Recruit Training Center, San Diego, California. Our Basic book for this was "The Bluejackets Manual." We all learned a lot during our nine weeks of training. Of course for service in any branch of the Military the concept of team work and following orders was the most important aspect of our training.

Additionally, Sailors learn how be very clean and neat. In order to live in the small spaces onboard ships, everyone must practice cleanliness and keep their individual space ship-shape.
