History Lesson
Today the Flower Child will consider recent events in Macon, Georgia during the past six weeks!!
I just reviewed the Wednesday, June 20, 2007 issue of "The Telegraph" which had this headline:
"Council OKs hotel plan"
The article contained pictures of those who Voted In Favor. Additionally readers were exposed to pictues of those who Voted Against.
Then just about a month later on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 "The Telegraph" had this as a secondary headline in a much bolder font than the first headline:
"It's Reichert in a landslide"
These events certainly tempt the Flower Child to think that this series of events may be related. The cause and effect or consequences of an action quickly caused me to think that these two headlines may be related. So the question to be briefly considered is: Did the June Council action regarding the Hotel have any bearing on the July Primary Elections for the many candidates who were rejected by Macon Voters? Indeed something to ponder.
Now the Flower Child would like to suggest that the victors always remember that the people have spoken. No matter the margin of victory, the duly elected must remember that everyone expects "Servant Leadership." This leadership requires that successful candidates must be responsible to the citizens of the governmental unit that elected them.
To all victorious candidates, it is important and also essential that you work for the good of your ward and also the City. The citizens deserve no less.
For those who did not win a seat, please remember that your campaign also had a positive consequence on this election and also future actions by those who did win election. The duly elected must consider your campaign points once they are sworn into office. For some this may involve "thinking or even acting outside of the box," but this concept will certainly serve the citizens well.
Thank You!!!!!
