A Vibrant Place To Live
This past week My Bride and I attended several fun events in Macon, Georgia. On Tuesday, October 30th we attended the Mercer University Orchestra Concert with Ward Stare conducting a vibrant program.
The concert featured the work of Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 7 in C Major. After a brief intermission we were treated to a stiring performance of Bela Bartok's Divertimento for Strings, Sz. 113. The energy of Conductor Ward Stare infected all the performers to such a degree that the venue with filled with an energy that I have never witnessed in any concert hall from London, Naples or Washington D.C. A very exciting event.
On Thursday we visited the opening reception at the SoChi Gallery at 534 Second Street in downtown Macon. The reception was well attended and featured many local photographers who had captured exciting, one of a kind images with their "I Phones." The pictures were inspiring for me. I would suggest that you call ahead to ascertain Gallery Hours before you visit. The Number is 238-6630.
Then on Friday, November 2 we attended the Opening Reception of "Listen With Your Eyes" which featured paintings and sculpture by local artist Peter Nishanian. You can visit this exciting show until December 1 at 486 First Street. Hours of operation can be obtained by calling (478) 743-6940.
