We Remember

The 2020 Elections will soon happen.  We here in Macon-Bibb are fortunate that our Leaders are Planning ahead.  It has been suggested that we will see Voters perform their civic duties in numbers that we have not experienced in recent history.  This Is Wonderful.

As I prepared for this post recalled an event from November 10th, 2012 when the Community and many from far away places dedicated a Monument to Macon's only Medal of Honor Hero - Rodney Maxwell Davis,  a United States Marine who gave his life to save His Fellow Marines during the Vietnam War.  If I recall correctly this event was held on a Saturday and noticeable absent were many elected Macon Officials.

Here are a few pictures from that day:

I suggest that it is certainly fitting and proper that Our Macon-Bibb Officials prepare for the 2020 Elections.  First be providing the funds to the Board of Elections and to also Thank Our Election Board by having two additional Early Voting sites.  We certainly have a tradition to uphold and to also Honor our Own Rodney Maxwell Davis, U. S. Marine who, along with other Heroes has Served our USA so that we may Vote and continue to look forward to our Freedom, Liberty and Happiness.

The following information copied and printed in "blue" from a GPB Website is Germane:

The board did approve two auxiliary early voting sites in addition to the Board of Elections at 2525 Pio Nono Ave.

Voters from all over the county will now be able to cast ballots at the Elaine Lucas Senior Center at Carolyn Crayton Park near downtown and the Theron Ussery Recreation Center off Wimbish Road in North Macon.

Early voting begins Oct. 12.

“Congratulations. City of Macon is in the 21st Century and we have two early voting locations,” Kaplan said.

He thanked the Macon-Bibb County government for supporting the expansion and approving an additional $427,251 to cover the cost of new voting machines for those locations.

The county also has agreed to put an additional absentee ballot drop box on the Mulberry Street side of the Bibb County Courthouse.

Please remember that Early Voting starts on Monday October 12, 2020 so that you can vote in person.  Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 if you desire to vote on the day set aside.

We have a lot to be Thankful For.  We simply must also exercise our Right to Vote!!
