Cicadas Sing

Let the Mating Commence

This is a new Cicada awaiting the opportunity to copulate.  These insects make a very annoying noise as they await the opportunity to couple.

This image clearly shows the holes in the soil where the new babies emerged from their thirteen year wait here in West Bibb County Georgia.
Here you are viewing the shells of four exoskeletons that I found on the Hydrangea plants on the North Side of my Home.

Now we can enjoy their mating calls for a brief period of time and we can all mark our schedules for 2024 when the next generation will await their mating opportunity.

Certainly a long period of time between mating encounters.

Based on this cycle of encounters we humans have nothing to complain about.
