Robbery Fest
Each morning here in Macon, Georgia a local Talk Radio show brings us all up to date on the Robberies that have happened in the last twenty-four hours. Of course on the Monday Morning show they have to bring us up to date on the robberies that happened on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I find it difficult to comprehend that so many of our citizens are engaged in this type of activity.
But then, I also am amazed of the lack of attention that we citizens allow to foster this type of activity. How many times have you watched a fellow citizen approach a Banking Facility with a "Bank Bag" in full display. This certainly tells a thief that you are a willing target. We all know that most people go to banks to deposit money, but there are ways to hide the fact that you are also carrying cash to deposit.
Then, I am also amazed on the large number of "Gas and Go" Convenience Stores that have large windows fully covered with merchandise displays and promotional banners. A potential thief just may think twice about conducting a hold up if citizens passing by these Convenience Stores could also see inside. I realize that these stores are in business to sell stuff, but to provide the privacy that a thief might need to conduct inappropriate activities just does not appear to be too intelligent.
During my marketing activities at the local food retailer I continue to be amazed at the number of fellow citizens who place their purse in the shopping cart while they search for a necessary item on the shelves. Sometimes these shoppers are a few feet away from the purse. I, the Flower Child, may be fairly mature, but I can assure you that I can run faster than most of the fine citizens who employ this practice which usually happens on Wednesdays.
We all need to be alert and also aware that there are those among us who want our stuff. By thinking how a thief would operate we can make our own lives more safe.

I'd never thought about the convenience store windows being blocked contributing to their chances of being robbed. Good point!
