Rodney Maxwell Davis

Medal of Honor Award

U. S. Marine, Rodney M. Davis was awarded the Medal of Honor for his dedication to his fellow Marines by giving his own life to save theirs during the Vietnam War.  U. S. Marine Rodney M. Davis is the only citizen from Macon, Georgia to received this award.  Our U. S. Navy has a ship named for him.

This Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. this Monument will be dedicated to honor him at his burial place in Macon's Linwood Cemetery.  This Cemetery is located off of Walnut Street just West of the bridge over I-75 that runs through the Pleasant Hill Area of Macon.

If I recall correctly, it was less than twelve months ago when fellow Marines who served with Rodney M. Davis commenced the fund raiser to erect this Monument.  It is very appropriate that it be dedicated this Saturday, just one day prior to Veteran's Day 2012.

I visited the Monument site today, November 8th to obtain these pictures so that I could feature this event here on this Blog post today.  There was an Air Force Veteran working on the landscaping around this Monument.  It is the goal of the workers to have this "Special Site" ready for the dedication.
