The People Speak

Last evening, November 7, 2012 I attended the performance presented by Macon State College of the play written by Howard Zinn entitled "The People Speak."  This powerful drama featured Macon State College Scholars who played the Voices from A People's History of the United States - Some Famous, Some Little Known.

If I counted correctly there was a total of fourteen Scholars who spoke the voices of "The People and related their personal history.

The theme of the play is best summed up by this quote by the Author, Howard Zinn:  "We don't have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change.  Small acts when multiplied by missions of people, can transform the world."

I am very glad that I attended this event.  It presented situations of our Nation's History that we do not read about or study in the required History Courses most of us have participated in during our years of formal education.

The next presentation, other than tonight at Macon State College in Macon will be on November 13, 2012 at the Warner Robins Campus.  I would suggest that you check the local print media to ascertain the time and location.  I first heard about this event in The Telegraph - Day By Day Column.
