USS The Sullivans (DDG-68)


November 13, 1942: During the Naval Battle at Guadelcanel the U. S. lost six ships, including the USS Juneau (CL-52) a Light Cruiser. On board the USS Juneau all five of the Sullivan Brothers from Waterloo, Iowa perished. At this time the U. S. Navy has honored this tragic loss with one Destroyer which bore the Name Sullivan to the current Guided Missile Destroyer: The Sullivans (DDG-68) which is homeported in Mayport, Florida. The five Sullivan Brothers were:
George age 28
Francis age 27
Joseph age 24
Madison age 23
Albert age 20
