Pipe Organ Music
Third Tuesday Organ Interludes
The Flower Child and his Bride just returned from the January Third Tuesday Organ Interlude which was performed at Saint Joseph Catholic Church at 830 Popular Street. This series of Organ Concerts take place in the four Downtown Macon Churches. First Presbyterian, Saint Joseph Catholic, Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and Christ Church (Episcopal).
Each Performance commences at Noon and concludes 30 minutes later. The next Interlude will be performed at First Presbyterian Church at Noon on February 17th and will feature Sandra Smith who is the Organist at this Church.
I particularly enjoyed the Toccata which was performed today and written by Eugene Gigout. I enjoyed the fast pace and reviewed the word "Toccata" upon my return home.
"Toccata (from Italian toccare, "to touch") is a virtuoso piece of music typically for a keyboard or plucked string instrument featuring fast-moving, lightly fingered or otherwise virtuosic passages or sections, with or without imitative or fugal interludes, generally emphasizing the dexterity of the performer's fingers." I obtained this information from Wikipedia.
