Politically Correct versus Rule of Law
The recent events concerning the selection of a new Junior Senator from the State of Illinois is certainly an example of how Governments/Officials can run amuck. What started out as an exercise in being Politically Correct in the selection process because the current governor is under investigation and the distain displayed by the Current United States Senators not wanting to seat the Governor's Selection has suddenly evaporated.
I, the Flower Child, think that the concept of "Rule of Law" has suddenly found new supporters. I think it is wonderful that the concept of "Rule of Law" is the most effective way to govern. For me this was highlighted and also stressed as I observed Georgia Public Television last evening as they replayed an interview with the Honorable Griffin Bell. The thrust of the interview was focused on the time frame of desegration of the School Systems as a result of the ruling of the United States Supreme Court. The Honorable Giffin Bell stated that desegration happened because it was the law. There was no longer any reason to fight the old system.
Therefore I, as but one citizen of this great Nation, am glad that once again the "Rule of Law" appears to the method used to seat the new Junior Senator from Illinois.
