In less than three hours after our 44th President took the Oath of Office the U. S. Senate confirmed the appointment of Tom Vilsack, a former Iowa Governor, to the position of Secretary of Agriculture.

Most political observers will quickly recall that it was the famed Iowa Caucus system that gave Candidate Obama his first Campaign Victory, and as we all know, the rest is history. I, the Flower Child consider it very appropriate that the Secretary of Agriculture come from the Food Basket of our United States of America. Iowa is a very fertile state and produces more food stuffs than any other state in our Nation.

Tom Vilsack may have been quickly confirmed as Secretary of Agriculture, but time will tell if he is a good choice. As important as policy, his history of lack of transparency and ethics should be noted.
