Motor Mill
A Clayton County, Iowa
Historic Site

Many years ago there was a grain mill in the village just Southeast of Elkader, Iowa on the banks of the Turkey River.  During my recent visit to Iowa this past Summer my nephew and his son took me on a Field trip.
This is the North facade of the Mill.  As you can ascertain it is in the process of being renovated.

At one time there was a Bridge that crossed the Turkey River.  There is a fund raising project underway to assist in the rebuilding of the Bridge.

There are several building that remain at Motor Mill, which supported the operation of the Mill.

Of course there are many who enjoy tubing down the Turkey River on a lazy hot Summer Day!!!!

Here is My Nephew's Son standing proudly at "The Inn."  I suspect that farmers who brought their grain to be milled often enjoyed the fellowship of other farmers as they waited for their grain to be processed.

I share this bit of Iowa History with you today as we all are proud of our Heritage.  This site is a part of mine!!
